The main line has to be cut to connect to the T. However, some users have reported difficulty in getting this item to work with some brands of flexible drain pipes due to the diameter of the tee openings being much larger than the pipe. It's perfect for standard black 4-inch corrugated drain pipes without any connector. While the joints in the tee are not designed to be leak-proof, it works great for yard drainage, French drains, or septic system leach fields. One reviewer suggested using a Flex Seal product for better sealing. The majority of reviewers have reported that they received the correct part and it worked for their needs.
